Day of the Event
February 8, 2013. The event will kick off at Barry University at 10:00 am with 2 workshops, at 12:00pm we will provide a free lunch and start opening ceremony, and at 1:00pm we will start walking 6 miles to Johnson & Wales University and then back to Barry. We will also have a human trafficking film and an open discussion for those who are not able to join the walk. The walk will be followed by a dinner and program at Barry University.
Everyone is invited to attend this event. Domestic violence affects women and men of all ages, cultures, races, and sexual orientations. Our primary purpose is to educate and raise awareness to all. Help us spread the message that violence never leads to love!
Females are encouraged to wear bridal gowns, prom dresses, or all white.
Men can wear tuxedos, or all black. Also, Please be sure to wear comfortable sneakers that support your feet, any type of running or exercise shoe should do the job.
The walking route is approximately 6 miles, starting at Barry and moving towards Johnson & Wales University, we will then return back to Barry. Participants may walk the entire route or may make arrangements to walk a portion of it. Police escort from North Miami Police Department will accompany walkers throughout. (Map Below)
